WeanalysetheinterplaybetweenDresselhaus,Bychkov-Rashba,andZeemaninteractionsinatwo-dimensionalsemiconductorquantumsystemundertheactionofamagneticfield.Whenaverticalmagneticfieldisconsidered,wepredictthattheinterplayresultsinaneffectivecyclotronfrequencythatdependsonaspin-dependentcontribution.Forin-planemagneticfields,wefoundthattheinterplayinducesananisotropiceffectivegyromagneticfactorthatdependsontheorienta-tionoftheappliedfieldaswellasontheorientationoftheelectronmomentum.

Theeffectsproducedbydifferentspin-dependentin-teractionsinsemiconductorstructuresarecurrentlyintheforefrontofexperimentalandtheoreticaleffortsinmesoscopicphysics.Theexplosiveactivityismotivatedbythedesireforadeepunderstandingofquantumco-herencephenomena.Theotherdrivingforceisthehopethatthespintronicsresearchwouldprovidenovel,low-dissipativemicroelectronicdevices[1,2].
Mostmeasurementsofspineffectsinsemiconductormicrostructuresareperformedapplyingamagneticfield.Inthiscase,twointrinsicspin-dependentinteractionsnaturallyappear:thewell-knownZeemaninteraction,whichcouplestheelectronspinwiththeappliedfield,andthespin-orbitcoupling.Thelatterhasbeenexten-sivelystudiedstartingfromtwo-dimensionalelectrongastoquantumdots[3,4,5,6,7,8],andconstitutesthebasisofseveralproposalsforspin-basedapplications[9,10,11].Inasemiconductor,thespin-orbitcouplingoriginatesasarelativisticeffectcausedbyelectricfieldspresentinthematerial(cf[12].SuchasystemcanbedescribedbytheHamiltonian
