There’s an old phrase saying, "Those who can’t do,teach.”But if you have a really teacher, you just might be attracted to following in that instructor's footsteps.
No time in my life was rougher than going from a small grade school to Texas middle school. All the other boys lived within walking distance of the school. I was the only one who lived across the mountain, in a completely different environment.
But in seventh grade,we had David Lombrana ,who taught about every subject that wasn’ maths or science. His brother Vicente, another good teacher, got those two. Mr. Lombrana let us have a love of literature, but it was tough for me,as a fan of history,to read fictional stories. But he introduced us to Jack London,Mark Twain, John Steinbeck and Edgar Allan Poe. He would spend the last few minutes of the day reading a short story of his favorite author: Erskine Caldwell. ll the stories were either funny or interesting, making you not put the story down until you had finished it. But what we didn't realize was that there was a moral to each one. He also instructed us when we needed to hear the truth. Mr. Lombrana followed me and several students to a local high school, where he helped to build a top speech and debate team before leaving for Houston,Texas.
Nowadays, we keep in touch by Facebook . Amazingly,we both remember those days like they were yesterday. I was fortunate to have more than one good teacher in life, ranging from teachers in grade school to researchers in college and graduate school. These teachers worked hard to make me use all of my potential. But it was Mr. Lombrana who was the first to get me thinking that being a teacher could be something special.

Quiet, please. Your dinner will now be served. That is the message being sent to customers at a New York City restaurant. In the restaurant, all people are forbidden to talk during the meal.
Nicholas Nauman .head chef at Eat in Brooklyn, said that he was inspired by the tight-lipped consumption after spending some time in India, where Buddhist monks take their breakfast without exchanging words.
“It’s just an opportunity to enjoy food in a way you might not have otherwise ,”said the chef, noting that the sounds of forks on dishes and cooks in the kitchen provide some background noise to the experience.
The silent一dining experience, experts said, seems to fit with other attention一getting tricks that many restaurant owners and chefs often adopt in the generally known competitive restaurant business. At Moto, in Chicago, diners can eat the menu. In Paris, London and Moscow,restaurant-Boers are served at Dans le Noir, where they will have their meals without light.
“As a mother of two 15-year-old boys it is kind of a fantasy to go to do that,”Tanya Steel, editor-in-chief of Epicurious. com, said of the silent一dining experience at Eat.“But as someone who pays money to go out,I would feel like I’m in some kind of silent film ;it would be incredibly difficult.”
At a recent evening at Eat, restaurant-goers didn’t seem to mind the silent treatment as they ate their salads and soups. One polite customer walked out of the door to sneeze in order to avoid breaking the silence. Another could barely hold back a strong case of laughing. And one couple found ways to communicate with facial expressions, instead of words.
“It's a kind of experience,”said Eat owner Jordon Colon. "The silence speaks for itself.”
24 .At Eat in Brooklyn,the diners______·
A. have to eat their meals silently B. can talk with chefs about the food
C. should have good table manners D. will have to eat in the darkness
25 .How did Nicholas Nauman come up with the idea?
A. Suggested by his customers. B. Inspired by other restaurants.
C. Inspired by his experience in India. D. Requested by the restaurant owner.
26 .What can we learn from Tanya Steel’s words?
A. She spoke badly of its service.
B. It was too expensive to eat there.
C. It was hard to keep her boys quiet.
D. It may appeal to someone but not all.
27 .It can be inferred that most customers_,
A. do not obey the dinning rules B. accept the new kind of treatment
C. complain about its inconvenience D. do not care much for the food
