'Inthelastcentury,bigwasbetter,'saidtheChina-basede-commercecompany'sfounder.'Butinthe21stcentury,Ibelievesmallisbeautifulbecauseitisnotabouthowmuchequipmentyouhave,itisabouthowquicklyyoucanchangeyourselftomeetthemarket.'
Givingarousingkeynoteaddressattheevent-regardedasasideshowtotoday'sApecCEOSummit-MrMatookapokeatlargercorporatesthatsufferedbeatingsduringthefinancialcrisis.

Speakingatthewelcomereceptionfordelegates,hesaid:'Itisalsoaptthatatthiscriticaljunctureoftheworldeconomy,thisyear'sCEOSummithasarecordturnoutofApecleaderssincetheinceptionoftheCEOSummitin1996.'
TheministersaidthatasApeccelebratesits20thbirthdaythisyear,itisagoodopportunityforApecandtheprivatesectortoconsiderhowitcandevelopandimplementinitiativestomeetfutureneeds.
